On August 28th, Confucius Institute at Dhaka University (CI at DU) held a send-off ceremony for 62 students who won Chinese scholarship under a program named Professional Development Program for Chinese Language Teachers in South Asian Countries. These students will go to Yunnan University for study. This is the largest number ever eligible for this scholarship.
Madam Zhou Mingdong, Chinese Director of CI at DU expressed her warm congratulations and high expectations for students. She motivated them to cherish this valuable study opportunity and work hard, to promote friendly exchanges between people of these two countries , to make due contribution to the development and heritage of Bangladesh, to accelerate the realization of golden Bangladeshi Dream, and to perform a positive role of civil messenger of Bangladeshi and Chinese culture.
Mr. Md. Afzal Hossain, the teacher in charge of Chinese Department at IML of DU, also delivered a speech on the ceremony. He requested the students to perform well in their study and to report good academic achievements to China and Bangladesh. Some Alumni in China shared their experience of studying in China. The new scholarship holders expressed their desire and expectation for overseas student life. They made their determination for diligent study and showed gratitude to China. They specially expressed highly respect and gratitude to Confucius Institute Headquarters for providing this scholarship.
At the end, the CI director and teachers handed out the university admission letters and the air tickets offered by China.
The next day, the Chinese CI director and teachers went to the airport to see off the students and wished them a smooth journey and good life in China.
